Open Eye Cafe Barista & Carrboro Coffee Roasters employee Michael Harwood is the 2011 Southeast Regional Barista Champion !!!!
Michaels’ skills as a barista were put to the ultimate test during this competition, and his countless hours preparing and hundreds of drinks made in practice paid off. He also credits working closely with his coffee roaster – Carrboro Coffee Roasters, and Head Roaster Mark Leatherwood for his success in creating winning coffee.

The competition is organized by the Specialty Coffee Association of America (SCAA), and features a competition format that tests the baristas technical skill as well as knowledge and passion for coffee, in a viewer friendly way. The Southeast Barista Championship was developed by the SCAA to help increase Barista skill and knowledge across the country.
