USA Premiere of “Gender in Coffee – A Documentary” and Discussion

Join us on July 25th at Carrboro Coffee Roasters for an informative, fun, and ultimately inspiring screening of Gender in Coffee – A Documentary to learn how gender inequalities impact farming families and communities and to participate in a lively discussion to get to the heart of the issues and solutions.

Coffee farming families around the world face enormous daily challenges that put them, and your delicious cup of coffee, at risk. The Partnership for Gender Equity works to ensure farming is viable for all members of the family – women, men, and youth; on whom the entire industry depends.

Seating is limited so be sure to reserve your seat here. All funds raised will go to support the Equal Origins initiative of The Partnership for Gender Equity.

Join us for live music from New Indiana on Friday, June 29th!

Come see us on Friday, June 29th to enjoy some tunes from New Indiana. The show is free and begins at 8pm.

As far back as 1999 New Indiana began working on their debut album due to release August 3rd, 2018. The album is autobiographical in nature and encompasses every stage of two musicians turned long time friends journey from the early Arizona days through the Northwest in Portland and to their current home in New York City.

Their debut album ‘Darkness Sunshine’ meanders through literal transcribed conversations they have had about the current political climate on Isis, race and drugs, while other songs take the listener to a chance meeting with Bernie Sanders outside of a small diner in Flagstaff, to the wild isolated mountains in Montana where they spent some time writing the last few songs. Through two decades, from the west and to the east, Darkness Sunshine encompasses a 19 year journey of friendship and creative pursuit.

Check out their Bandcamp page here.

We hope to see you there!

Come see Rev. Freakchild on Saturday, June 23rd!

Come see us on Saturday, June 23rd to enjoy some tunes from Reverend Freakchild! The show is free and begins at 8pm.

In the tradition of such Blues Reverends as Rev. Gary Davis – such is the irreverent Reverend Freakchild.  The Rev has played in many bands including an early incarnation of Soul Coughing with M. Doughty leaving to form the roots rock jam band Bananafish in Boston and then on to some work with The Neptune Ensemble, The Soul Miners (w/ guitar virtuoso Matt Rae), The Lucky Devils and The Cosmic All-Stars touring internationally.  The Rev has also served as a member and featured soloist of the Metro Mass Gospel Choir performing at such venues as Carnegie Hall, Avery Fischer Hall and the Town Hall Theater. He grew up in Hawaii, holds a degree in philosophy and religion from Northeastern University in Boston and now currently resides in Colorado pursuing a Master of Divinity Degree at Naropa University. Ryan Bonner and the Adam Anderson Project will be here on Saturday, June 9th!

Come see us on Saturday, June 9th, and listen to Ryan Bonner and the Adam Anderson Project! The show is free and begins at 8pm.

Ryan Bonner brings a vocal quality at home over bluesy, mellow southern tunes and soaring, driven anthems that tell stories standing at the intersection of faith, family and desire; he looks at them through a slightly twisted prism to bring out the subtler colors of meaning in each.

His lyrics are simultaneously hopeful and astringent; a fellow artist recently defined his writing style as having an “acid wit.” Calling on a broad base of influences, Ryan produces music that evokes the sound of the singer-songwriter renaissance, telling the stories of the millennial search for real connection in an oft-isolated world.

Listen to some of his music here.

We hope to see you there!
